Nothing ruins a picture perfect day more than having a headache.
Anyone who experiences migraines or tension headaches on a regular basis knows just how awful you can feel. Think nauseous, pain around the eyes, constant throbbing in your head and an inability to concentrate or function at full capacity.
During the summer months, these headaches can become a daily fixture in your life. Preventing you from, not only enjoying the weather but also from showing up in life as the best version of you and on your A-game. Thankfully, Mother Earth has gifted us with crystals. Offering us a more natural alternative for pain relief.
Crystals have been on the earth for millions of years, with almost every civilisation reaping the benefits of incorporating crystals into their daily lives. They have been used for protection, adornment, beautifying, love talismans, rituals and, of course, healing.
Today, many of the beliefs, rituals and practices of these civilisations have been revived for the ‘Now Age’. So, everyone from the girl next door to your local Modern Mystic and celebs like Victoria Beckham count crystals as essentials for modern living.
When it comes to healing and pain relief crystals are placed on or around the body, focusing on the area where the pain is being experienced. The energy of the crystal works to move energy that has become stagnant or blocked in your body, which is what headaches are: Blocked energy.
Working with crystals when you have a headache will not take away the pain. However, it can be used to alleviate that pain, relax you and facilitate the positive flow of energy around your body.
Amethyst crystals are particularly good for tension headaches or those times when a headache is brought upon by a lack of sleep. So, an Amethyst will be great to work with if the hot summer nights have left you feeling fatigued and tired. This purple gemstone promotes an energy of calm and relaxation, supporting you in being able to de-stress and feel more relaxed. Placing this crystal on your head or on the pulse point in your wrist can be especially effective in relaxing you.
Selenite is a great all-rounder crystal. One of the key properties of this crystal is moving stuck, blocked and stagnant energy. Which is exactly what you want to do when you have a headache: Get that energy moving. The simplest way to work with Selenite when you have a headache is to lie on the floor, couch or your bed, hold the crystal in your hand or place it on your forehead. Then simply allow the crystal to do the work.
Everyone knows Rose Quartz as being the stone of love. Yet it is also a healing stone which promotes a soothing and calming vibration. Once again, it is great to work with when you are experiencing a headache due to lack of sleep due to the heat at night. You can use this crystal in the same way that you would use the Amethyst crystal, which is particularly useful if you find the energy of Amethyst too stimulating as some people do. Who knows you may even open the heart to attracting the love of your life too!
Clear Quartz is known amongst crystal healers as the Healer’s Stone. This is because it has an abundance of uses and properties that can support you in healing, as well as manifesting. Yet, as a healing crystal for alleviating pain relief, you will find that Clear Quartz works to direct negative or heavy energy away from the body. Although it can be best to work with a Clear Quartz Crystal Point so that energy is released through the point, it is possible to place a small tumbled stone on your forehead too. When working with a tumbled stone the headache energy will move out of your head and absorbed by the crystal.
It’s worth remembering that each person will have their own unique relationship with different crystals. This is something that can also change over a time. For example, you may find that at one stage in your life Amethyst is too stimulating for you, then somewhere down the line, you feel a real connection to it. This is perfectly normal. With this in mind, it’s recommended that you select the crystal that you are most drawn to when a headache kicks and explore what works for you.
If the crystals alone don’t offer enough pain relief, then try massaging Peppermint Oil into temples and directly onto your forehead. Another alternative is to inhale either Peppermint or Olbas oil, whilst relaxing on the sofa with a cooling eye mask over your eyes and listen to some binaural beats.

Rose Quartz is one of those crystals which can be hugely underestimated. It’s often thought of that crystal that helps us to attract the lover of our dreams. Yet it is so much more than this. In fact, before it even draws the love another close it will show you all the ways that you need to love yourself first!
This candy pink gemstone is a nurturing stone. A stone of compassion and unconditional love. Making it a beautiful companion during times of heartache or pain, including period pain. As it’s soothing, healing and energy of unconditional love it works to dissolve those barriers of pain, sadness and fear.
HOW TO MAKE ROSE QUARTZ PART OF YOUR DAILY LIFE
There are many different ways to make this crystal part of your everyday life. For example, it’s believed that the Goddess Aphrodite used to place Rose Quartz in her bath so that the loving energy of the crystal could be absorbed into her body and energy field. This way of working with crystals has been adopted by many modern sacred beauties, like you and I. It’s certainly a beautiful way to relax at the end of a stressful day. I can vouch for that.
One way that I make Rose Quartz part of my day is by keeping a small selection of tumbled stones in a glass bowl on my dressing table. This helps to hold the vibration of unconditional love, self-love and beauty as I apply my makeup. It’s also a personal reminder for me too.
As Rose Quartz resonates with the heart chakra it makes sense to place it over your heart chakra during meditation. This can have the effect of opening the heart of receive love whilst also promoting relaxation. You might like to try this heart-centred meditation.
Alternatively, you may simply wish to wear your Rose Quartz in your bra, so it’s close to your heart space or adorns your wrist with a beautiful Rose Quartz bracelet. How you choose to connect with and work with your crystal is entirely up to you.

As a rebel, workaholic and nurturer I am prone to pushing the limits, working into the wee hours and giving freely of myself to others. And that can mean that I am way too hard on myself.
The pressure to achieve and be all things to all people can often take its toll. This is when the proverbial usually hits the fan.
Think meltdown, frustration, stress, headaches and all the things that come along with not making my self-care a priority.
Having lived that life for far too many years as a full-time teacher I reached a point where enough was enough. No longer was I willing to keep giving and hustling at the expense of my own mental health and wellbeing.
Something had to change!
That change was prioritising my self-care and wellbeing. Making intentional choices about my life and how I live it, rather than running myself ragged on autopilot mode.
Making a change like this was a challenge at first. The same thoughts of “I should be doing more” and “I am not doing enough” circled in my mind. Yet, I learnt that when those thoughts arose that it was my cue to:
Press the pause button.
Taking the time to listen to my body, step away from the noise and distractions to remind myself that I AM WORTHY of receiving the things that I give to others so freely.
And guess what? If I am worthy of receiving then you sure are too.
BEGIN YOUR OWN SELF-CARE PRACTICE
If you are still reading then you must be ready or, at least, curious about how starting your own self-care practice. So, let me share with you my personal inner and beauty self-care practices to get you started.
Use them, apply them and tweak them to suit your needs. Then enjoy putting yourself first and making your mental health, as well as your wellbeing more of a priority.

INNER BEAUTY SELF-CARE PRACTICES
Gratitude helps you to put things into perspective. Gently guiding your thoughts away from the hustle and bustle of daily life or all of the things that are or could go wrong. Gratitude reminds you of what is going well in your life and the amazing possibilities that are available to you.
FOCUS ON YOUR HEART SPACE
Lie on your bed, close your eyes and place your fingertips on your heart space. Imagine that your breath is flowing into and out of your heart space with ease. Believe it or not, this calms your body and your mind, as you are shifting your focus. In doing so you are opening and clearing your heart space. A space that we often close down when we feel stressed, frustrated, angry, hurt or resentful.
‘FUCK IT‘ LIST
Begin your day or your self-care routine by getting your thoughts and feelings out of your body and onto the paper. This is a great way of letting go of what is weighing you down before attempting to begin a practice such as heart space breathing or meditation, eliminating some of those possible distractions. Another beautiful variation of this is the ‘Morning Pages‘ where you begin your day free-writing and is a great way to connect you to Source energy.
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN A GOOD BOOK
This doesn’t have to be a book about spirituality, beauty or mindfulness. It could simply be a good fictional romance novel or whatever tickles your fancy. Just take the time to turn off ALL distractions, curl up and totally lose yourself in that book. Here are some of my favourite books for the soul.
Whilst working in a particularly challenging work environment this became crucial to my daily routine. As soon as I got home from work I would race to my room to complete this ritual of clearing away the energy of the day. I would use self Angelic Reiki, cord cutting meditations with AA Michael or channelling white light through my chakras. It’s a beautifully relaxing way of detoxing from the day’s events. Just remember to spend some time in gratitude calling in what you want to experience for the remainder of your evening or day.
JUST SAY “NO”
What I came to realise is that a big part of self-care is about saying “no“. Saying “no” to what doesn’t resonate with you, will deplete your energy and just doesn’t feel good at all. When you say “no” you free yourself from the obligation of doing something that really doesn’t resonate with you and leaving less chance for you feeling overwhelmed as a result of it.
OUTER BEAUTY SELF-CARE PRACTICES
PAINT YOUR NAILS
Or have someone else paint them for you. The great thing about changing the colour of your nails is that there is a nail colour for every single mood so you can choose a colour to reflect the mood that you want to experience at that time, eg: feminine, bold, sexy, mysterious….. Also, having a manicure is just such a relaxing experience that will take your mind off everything and give you beautifully manicured nails.
AN EPSOM OR HIMALAYAN SALT BATH
Reap the benefits of a long, hot bath with Epsom or Himalayan Salts. Both of which are known for the detoxifying and de-stressing properties. Not only is it great for your skin it is also great for leaving you feeling relaxed too.
MAKE YOUR OWN BODY SCRUB
I’ve been making sea salt and olive oil body scrubs since I was a teen in High School (and that’s a bloody long time ago now) and I love it. Sea Salt helps to deeply cleanse your pores, balance oil production and get rid of the bacteria that causes breakouts. It works wonders on ingrown hairs too and mixed with olive oil it’ll leave your skin silky smooth.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Stress, trauma, guilt, resentment and memories. We hold all of that in our bodies and over time it builds up and manifests itself in many different ways, including excess weight, anxiety, and even physical pain and poor posture. Getting that energy moving again through movement allows the energy to flow freely through your body, which helps you to feel energised and relieves some of that tension. Exercise, be it a YouTube dance or yoga video or joining a local class, down to taking a walk or jog in the park are all great ways to get your body moving. It also helps to refocus your mind too.
TRY OUT A NEW LOOK
Personally, I believe that makeup should be fun, expressive and enhance your natural beauty. So, why not have some play time and fun with your make-up collection. Try out a new shade of lipstick or a different colour on your eyelids to see how you feel. Lose yourself in having fun changing your look and enhancing what God gave you.
ARE YOU READY TO START MAKING YOUR SELF-CARE A PRIORITY?
If so, which practice will you begin with first? Decide a practice that resonates with you and make yourself promise to practise this on a daily basis. Maybe start with 7 days of doing this self-care practice then add to it, tweak it or keep going with it for another 10 days and so forth.
Don’t be discouraged if you fall off the wagon. I do frequently. Just cut yourself some slack and resolve to get back to it a while later or the next day.
It also helps to get yourself into the habit of listening to and responding to your body too. Your body will often send you signals that is time to slow down and your thoughts will certainly do the same, as mentioned before. It’s up to you to make the choice to take action and ask for help if you need to make your self-care time a reality.

Dear Beautiful Soul
Here’s a little message for you if you’re struggling with trusting your intuition, especially if you feel that she led you down a yucky path the last time you followed her lead…….
I often hear people say:
“I followed my intuition and it still went fucking wrong.”
Ever felt that way or said something like that? Me too!
Yet here are the things that I’ve learnt to be true: Our soul guides our intuition. Our soul doesn’t have quite the same concept of right and wrong that we do. The soul’s aim is to guide us to awaken, which involves:
- Learning the lessons we came here to learn
- Having the experiences we need to have and agreed to in our soul contract (soul contract is a whole new one for another time)
These experiences help us grow, awaken from the inside out. Shed the BS, integrate the lessons + indulge in the blessings.
In doing so we get closer to and finally arrive at the places we’ve been visualising, snuggle in the arms that we’ve been dreaming of and become the women we’ve been crushing on, or even better.
It’s all a journey. A beautiful, sometimes challenging and frustrating game of life. And even when it doesn’t feel like it or even when it doesn’t make sense the soul, your intuition, these chicks know the way.
Following your intuition isn’t just about sunshine and rainbows it’s about growth, unlocking the key to your heart and remembering who you were created to be and what the hell you came here to do. And sometimes that path is murky at first. Then it’s all worth it.
It’s just a matter of perspective.
A case of believing that life is happening to you or that life is happening for you.
In the case of the latter you step closer to the beauty and inner workings that your soul wants you to see.

I love this excerpt from an interview with Victoria Forster because she sums up crystal healing in such a simplistic way. Which is perfect because working with crystals is simple and, in my own experience, it is the simplest way to raise your vibration, whilst adding a little beauty and sparkle to your everyday life. However, with the multitude of books, courses, websites and products out there you would think that incorporating crystals into your everyday life is rocket science when really it doesn’t have to be.
HOW I GOT STARTED + BANISHING A CRYSTAL MYTH
When I first discovered crystals I was about 7 years old and was on a school trip to Chislehurst Caves. Whilst everybody else was buying novelty pencils and rubbers I was choosing the best Amethyst and Clear Quartz crystals for mum and me. Yet, it wasn’t until I was in university that I started to really get into them.
Beginning with using Rose Quartz to banish crippling period pain, boosting my confidence and attracting attention from male admirers. At the time, it was non-intentional and totally experimental. By that, I mean that I wasn’t setting an intention for how to work with my crystal and had no idea about the properties of Rose Quartz. However, the little Rose Quartz that I had borrowed from my mum, worked for me in the most beautiful, loving, intuitive and miraculous way.
For me, that is the beauty of crystals: They know exactly what you need, even if you don’t and are not even sure what to do in order to connect with them. This is because crystals will respond to your most dominant vibration (your energy). Lifting, balancing and giving you what you need energetically in order to move forward with a little more ease and grace. Therefore, I always feel that the key things you need when working with crystals are an open heart and an open mind, as well as a healthy dose of detachment.
CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS
It is important to cleanse your crystals before you use them. Even if they have been tucked away in your crystal box for some time, it is wise to perform a simple cleansing ritual because crystals store energy. Therefore, it is possible that your crystal may have absorbed energy that may not resonate with you.
There are many schools of thoughts, methods and suggestions for cleaning your crystals. Yet the ones that I subscribe to can be performed with ease and do not require lots of preparation or additional effort. Try one or all of the following and see which one floats your boat:
This is where I started, holding my crystals under running water with the intention of clearing the energy, and sometimes I would soak the crystals in water overnight.
Pass the crystal through the smoke of Sage and saying an affirming prayer to clear the energy of the crystal. Sage has been used since ancient times, believed to remove negative energy and restore energetic balance within a space.
#3: Prayer and intention
Hold the crystal in your hand or by your heart and say a prayer of intention, speaking directly from your heart. One prayer that I have come across recently and absolutely love is this one from Energy Muse:
“I ask that the highest vibration of love+ light connect with my highest self to clear all unwanted energy + previous programming. I command these crystals to _____________. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
People often ask me how often they should be cleansing their crystals. My personal stance is that I clear the energy of the crystals each time I am working with it for something new. This way I clear all previous programming and any unwanted energy. In saying that, I also trust my intuition and the connection that I have with that crystal. Therefore, if I feel that the energy of the crystal is getting a little heavy or that it feel ‘weak’, for want of a better word, I clear the energy using the method that I feel drawn to at that time.
Despite the fact that I have completed crystal healing and reading courses, my interaction with my crystals is still based on my intuition and personal experiences. Sometimes I feel that this is best because the crystal is working with you and your energy, so what works for others may not necessarily work with you.
Choosing the right crystal for you tends to be a very intuitive process whereby the crystal will often choose you, connecting with your vibration. However, I have found over the years that there are crystals that I simply cannot live without and that I return to over again to support me in different areas of my life. These crystals are:
#1: Clear Quartz
Crystal all-rounder and tension reliever. It can also be used to amplify the energy of your intention + other crystals.
This crystal will bring a wave of calm when you are feeling a little stress or overwhelmed. It’s a great meditation companion.
#3: Rose Quartz
The infamous stone of love is a healing and soothing stone. Shows you your barriers to love + aids sleep.
#4: Black Tourmaline
A stone of protection that grounds and shields you from energy, especially negative energy, that’s not yours.
Your guardian angel in crystal form. This crystal cleanses your energy, unblocking that stuck energy + bringing a sense of calm.
More commonly known as the abundance stone as it can be used for manifesting abundance. Promotes confidence and positivity in the wearer.
INCORPORATING CRYSTALS INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE
There are many ways to incorporate crystals into your daily life and it really doesn’t have to be complicated. One of the most effective and easy ways that I find for doing this is wearing them in my bra. Although, you can carry your crystals in your pocket or handbag, as well as keeping them on your desk, altar, under your pillow or in a crystal grid. You may even want to hold a crystal in your hand whilst you are meditation or visualising in order to amplify the energy of your intention. This will be supportive in getting you in energetic alignment.
TAKE YOUR POWER BACK AT WORK
I’ve been fortunate enough to work in every single career field that I have wanted to, overcoming opposition, challenge and many nay-sayers. In addition to this, I’ve incorporated crystals into my law of attraction rituals and prayers, giving me a little energy boost and alignment.
I have also used crystals when I was having a hard time at work, especially when working in negative environments or people where it was essential that I stay in my own energy. Two crystals that I find really helps with this are Selenite and Black Tourmaline, incorporating them into my energy protection practice and wearing them in my bra whilst at work. If you are in need of a little confidence boost and good luck in a work project or job hunt, then Aquamarine is a good crystal helper. Not only does it emit a relaxing and calming vibrational, yet I found that it boosts your confidence and gives you the motivation to simply just go for it.

Angelic Reiki is an alternative healing system that can be used as a tool for your personal and self-development. The beauty of Angelic Reiki, as I have personally experienced it, is that it gets to the root of the problem or issue. It also brings balance, harmony and a sense of wellbeing to your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.
The healing system itself was channelled to the late Kevin Core from 2002 until 2003 via Archangel Metatron. With it being described as the “Healing for our time” because the healing goes to “straight to our truth”.
During a session, the practitioner will hold the space for your healing. This means that they act as a bridge between you and the Angelic Kingdom, so that the healing from the Angels + Ascended Masters can be received by you. The practitioner is not the healer, instead, it’s a partnership between you and the Angelic Kingdom. This healing can be received in-person (sometimes described as hands-on) or at a distance. How this is possible? Energy, the Angels, Ascended Masters and God are not bound by time and space.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF ANGELIC REIKI?
The benefits of Angelic Reiki are personal and individual to each person. Some of the benefits that I have known Angelic Reiki to offer include:
- Getting to the root of an issue
- Past life healing
- Dislodging stuck energy and emotions from the body
- Relaxation and stress relief
- Providing an uplifting and energizing experience
- Enhancing intuitive abilities
- Offering pain relief
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT DURING AN ANGELIC REIKI SESSION?
The person receiving Angelic Reiki remains fully clothed, either sitting or lying down throughout the session. If this is an in-person session I will place my hands on your shoulders or back, the energy will then flow to you. You may or may not notice that after a short while, usually within 5 minutes, I will remove my hand from your should or back. At this point, a connection has been established and I am able to step back to the Angels get down to the healing.
The sessions can last anything from 40 minutes up to an hour, although it’s totally guided by the Angels so may be slightly longer or shorter. Either way, rest assured that you will receive the healing that’s appropriate for you at that time.
During the session, you may find that you fall asleep or go into a deep meditative state. It’s also totally possible for you to see images clairvoyantly, just as you would if you were dreaming or in meditation. So, don’t be surprised if this happens. You may even find that you feel nothing at all. Your experience will be personal to you and what you are ready to experience. Yet know that the healing is happening.
If you opt for a distant healing I will make the connection via your name and hold the intention for your healing in the exact same way I would if the healing was in-person.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT BEFORE + AFTER A SESSION?
Whether you are having a distant or in-person session you will receive a client questionnaire to complete. This forms the basis of in-person consultation. If you are receiving distant Angelic Reiki I welcome a call prior to the session.
If you are receiving distant Angelic Reiki you will also receive guidance notes, which includes aftercare advice and a meditation as some people like to relax at the point when they know the healing is taking place.
After the session is a time for a debrief. If you are receiving a distant healing you will receive an email from me and this may or may not include any guidance that came through. Either way, I am checking in with you and it’s a perfect opportunity for you to give feedback on the experience for you. This is also the case for in-person sessions where you are giving time to acclimatise to your surroundings before we have our post-healing chat.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A HEALING?
The effects of Angelic Reiki will continue to take place for up to 21 days after the treatment has taken place. This is your body continuing to restore itself back into harmony and balance. At the end of the 21 days, I always advise checking in with me just to update on your experience and the healing process.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL YOU NEED?
Some people opt to receive Angelic Reiki on a monthly basis, incorporating it into their self-care routine. Whereas, others feel drawn to it at certain points in their life. With that in mind, the number of sessions required depends on you, as with the effects of the session. This could be based on how willing you are to embrace change or the truth, how long you’ve been affected by the issue/condition and how willing you are to do the work to achieve change/desired results.

Meditation is one practice that I’ve always had an on, off love affair with. Sometimes I’ll be on it, meditating in the am and the pm. Then, at other times, I’ll find myself slacking.
I used to get annoyed with myself for not wanting to meditate. Going into this space of, almost forcing myself to meditate. After all, meditation is what us spiritual types are meant to do, right?
These days I do find myself meditating every day and that’s because I want to. That’s because I’ve have created a ‘no pressure’ practice that fits in with my lifestyle. As a result of this, I’ve found that I actually enjoy it.
I’ve also made a few discoveries along the way that hopefully will inspire you to start and create your own meditation practice that works for you.
Before we delve in I want to ask you to drop any preconceptions that you have about meditation, such as is too hard, that you can’t switch off your monkey mind or that you’ll never be able to master it. I ask you to do this so that you can approach your new meditation practice from a fresh perspective and an open heart. Something that will hopefully open you up to receiving what you need from this post and use it to develop a meditation practice that works for you.
WHY I STARTED MEDITATING
Meditation found me whilst I was in the sixth form. It was a practice that our chaplain and RE teacher (yes, I went to Catholic sixth form) would use at the start of each lesson. A very short meditation, where we connected to the silence within.
This practice of connecting to the silence within was reinforced in my weekly yoga class where we’d end each session with a silent meditation.
Back then I didn’t know anything about meditation. It wasn’t the ‘thing’ that it is now. All I knew was based on what I felt and had experienced from participating in those sessions. Those feelings and experiences being peace, relaxation, calm and wholeness. Which leads us nicely to my first discovery…..
DISCOVERY #1: HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL + WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE?
I meditate for different reasons and won’t use the same meditation day in, day out. Each day is different. Each morning I feel different. Which means what I want to experience isn’t necessarily the same as what I wanted to experience yesterday or the day before that. Therefore, I choose a meditation based on what I need, what I want to experience more or what I am working on bringing more of into my life.
For example, in my NQT year (newly qualified teacher), I got really into meditation for healing. At this point in my life, I was stressed, drained and ready to quit before I had even begun. So my meditation practice was really about feeling lighter, less stressed about the day ahead and letting go of hurt, worries and fears. This in contrast to my psychic development workshop meditation. Here the focus was on raising my vibration to connect with spirit so that I could give readings. Followed by lowering that vibration and clearing energy so that I could switch off, as it were, from being a spirit channel.
What I discovered was that when I knew how I wanted to feel and what I wanted to experience I’d choose a meditation that compliments this. Then my practice wouldn’t feel forced or like some kind of a chore because I will be experiencing what I need during that time. This brought and continues to bring a sense of intention and purpose to the practice that I aim to carry throughout the day.
DISCOVERY #2: MEDITATING ON THE GO
Some people may turn up their nose to this one and that’s fine, yet I quite like a bit of meditation on the go. I’m not saying swap your 6am meditation practice with your crystals for meditating on the train. However, I’ve found it helpful to spend my train journey doing something mindful rather than stressing about my day ahead or something that triggered me from the day before.
On those days when I’m running late and don’t meditate first thing or when someone has fucked me right off during the day, meditating on the go can and has been my saving grace.
I find that just by taking those 5 or 10 minutes to myself on the bus, train or tube helps to chill me out, relax, reconnect and ground, if only just for a while. That short while can really make a difference to how you feel on the inside and how you show up on the outside. Whilst also bringing a sense of perspective and balance that you may have missed had you not given yourself permission to experience a moment or two of stillness.
It’s for this reason that I have one or two meditation apps downloaded and a few more saved in the music player on my mobile. I tend to have one for each of my preferred types of meditating, eg: healing, visualizing, mantra and music (music for me includes meditating Stormzy – Blinded by your Grace). By doing this I help to ensure that I have the right meditation for me at the right time.
DISCOVERY #3: DON’T LET IT GET BORING + DON’T FEEL BAD
When meditation felt like a chore or routine that’s when I’d skip my practice. So, I’m happy to mix things up and do what works for me. As long as I arrive at my desired experience or feeling outcome that’s the most important thing.
Mixing it up may look different for each person. It could be that you do a 10-minute meditation rather than 50 minutes. Maybe you meditate to your favourite songs, like I have been known to. Perhaps you do a 30-day chakra meditation to balance your chakras and restore balance from within.
The point is that you have to do what works for you. Listen to your body and connect with your soul, allowing them to be the guide that leads you to what they need and what will fill you up. This is especially true in the early stages of starting your practice where you are most likely to feel bad if you miss your practice that day.
One way around this is to commit to 5 days of meditating each morning, afternoon, evening, day or whatever works for you. At the end of the week reflect on what worked and what didn’t. Make adjustments and tweaks here there, whilst keeping what worked before committing to another 5 or 10 days of meditation. Over time, you’ll build up a meditation practice that works for you at that phase in your life. I say “at that phase in your life” because things change. Life changes. You change. So, you have to adapt to these changes and that may also involve making changes to your meditation practice.
