3 ways to be more spiritual in your beauty routine + heal your relationship with yourself

When we talk about conscious beauty our thoughts normally go towards vegan and ethical beauty products or eating mindfully and healthily. Yet, the kind of conscious beauty that I want to focus upon today involves mind, energy and emotions.

Over the last few years the world of beaury has changed with more and more people taking a more conscious approach. Rather than being seduced by the brand + packaging we are looking more closely at the ingredients and we are asking questions about how ethical the brand is.

But, what if we could take this a step further by using our beauty routine as a way to consciously align our mind, energy and emotions to heal our relationship with ourselves? In today’s blog post I’ll share some tips on how you can do exactly that.

DEFINING SPIRITUAL BEAUTY

Spiritual Beauty involves going within to do the inner work in order to heal your relationship with yourself and step out of the dark into your light. The tools I use include energy healing, spiritual guidance (including mindset, mystical wisdom and ritual) and outer beauty treatments.

SPIRITUAL BEAUTY RITUAL

Decide

Set an intention for your beauty routine. Decide how you want to feel and how you want to show up in your world that day. For example, you may have an important interview and you want to feel confident. Invite the Angels, God or whoever you believe in to support you in aligning with this energy through the power of prayer or setting an intention.

Prayer: “Thank you for blessing my day ahead and everyone that I meet. Thank you for blessing me and filling me with (insert what you want to receive).” For added emphasis and energy alignment choose a crystal that matches the energy of your intention, eg: Green Aventurine for luck or Mangano Calcite for self love.

Affirmations

Have affirmations close by and say these as you are applying your make-up in the mirror. Your affirmations can be a mix of things that you love and honour about yourself, alongside those that align with one specific thing that you are working on manifesting into your life.

Tip: Begin your affirmations with the words “I am“. It is believed that whatever follows the words “I am” are instantly affirmed by God and you will become that. Read more here.

Awareness

As you apply your makeup begin to notice where your thoughts go. Notice whether or not those thoughts are self-affirming or devaluing you. It’s possible that when your attention moves towards a particular part of your face or body you feel a shift in your energy, eg: butterflies or tightness in your tummy.

Is this an indication that you need to love this part of your body more? Are their thoughts and beliefs about this part of your body that devalue you?

Tip: Acknowledge the energy, thought and feeling. Reframe and affirm what you want to think and feel about that part of your body instead. Where possible use the word “I am” and if it’s hard to believe the new affirmation trying saying “I am giving myself permission to let go of the belief that……” and follow this with “I am willing to believe that…..”

ARE YOU READY TO EXPERIENCE SPIRITUAL BEAUTY?

Take what resonates from the practice of Spiritual Beauty and don’t feel the need to do it all at once. Start with one of the actions and focus on it over a sustain period of time. On the other hand you may prefer to take one activity and make it into a weekly ritual. Choose what feels good, aligned and manageable for you.

Be patient with yourself too. Whereas you might be able to change some beliefs that you have about yourself quickly, there may be others that take more time. Often these beliefs and thoughts have been engrained in you over a period of time. Affirmed over and over again through experiences and interactions with others, sometimes since childhood. In some cases you have even inherited these beliefs from your your parents and taken them on as your own. Therefore, the practice of Spiritual Beauty will take practise and consistent effort.

I’d love to hear how you get on so feel free to comment below or message me personally.

With love from me to you xo

Day 1: Rose Quartz

Loving yourself and feeling confident in your own skin are key aspects of sacred beauty. It promotes healthy self-esteem and a sense of self-worth that comes from within. Meaning that you don’t feel the need to look for validation from others or feel the need to change in order to fit in, be accepted or feel loved.

Yet, in today’s modern world this isn’t always easy. Pressure from social media, magazines and celeb culture can often leave women feeling like they have to conform to be beautiful. And let’s not forget the pain and anguish that comes from heartbreak, bullying and other soul-destroying situations, which can leave you feeling un-pretty, unworthy and less than in so many ways.

Whilst there are many methods that can be used to heal and move beyond these feelings there are little gems from the Earth which, if used alongside these methods, can give your healing a little energetic boost.

These gems are crystals, with Rose Quartz being the perfect crystal for all things sacred beauty and love related.

LOVE + ROSE QUARTZ:

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.” – Carrie Bradshaw

Rose Quartz is one of those crystals which can be hugely underestimated. It’s often thought of that crystal that helps us to attract the lover of our dreams. Yet it is so much more than this. In fact, before it even draws the love another close it will show you all the ways that you need to love yourself first!

This candy pink gemstone is a nurturing stone. A stone of compassion and unconditional love. Making it a beautiful companion during times of heartache or pain, including period pain. As it’s soothing, healing and energy of unconditional love it works to dissolve those barriers of pain, sadness and fear.

HOW TO MAKE ROSE QUARTZ PART OF YOUR DAILY LIFE

There are many different ways to make this crystal part of your everyday life. For example, it’s believed that the Goddess Aphrodite used to place Rose Quartz in her bath so that the loving energy of the crystal could be absorbed into her body and energy field. This way of working with crystals has been adopted by many modern sacred beauties, like you and I. It’s certainly a beautiful way to relax at the end of a stressful day. I can vouch for that.

One way that I make Rose Quartz part of my day is by keeping a small selection of tumbled stones in a glass bowl on my dressing table. This helps to hold the vibration of unconditional love, self-love and beauty as I apply my makeup. It’s also a personal reminder for me too.

As Rose Quartz resonates with the heart chakra it makes sense to place it over your heart chakra during meditation. This can have the effect of opening the heart of receive love whilst also promoting relaxation. You might like to try this heart-centred meditation.

Alternatively, you may simply wish to wear your Rose Quartz in your bra, so it’s close to your heart space or adorns your wrist with a beautiful Rose Quartz bracelet. How you choose to connect with and work with your crystal is entirely up to you.

ARE YOU READY TO MAKE ROSE QUARTZ PART OF YOUR LIFE?

Loving yourself, recognising your own beauty and being confident in your own skin are essential ingredients for Sacred Beauty. So, if you could with a little support in this area Rose Quartz can be a great tool to work with. Using it alongside affirmations, meditation, Angelic Reiki or other forms of self-development as it helps to amplify the energy of your intention.

If you are thinking of or already do work with Rose Quartz I’d love to hear from you. Comment below and I’ll respond to your comment.

Look forward to hearing your experiences.
