Psychics, mediums, intuitives….. What’s the difference?

There are so many different terms that are used to describe spiritual advisory work. This tends to cause confusion as people seek out an advisor who can meet their personal needs and requirements. To help you out I’ve created a mini guide that explains these terms in the simplest terms possible.

So, pour yourself a glass of Prosecco and sit back to explore the world of spiritual/psychic/medium/intuitive…readings.

PSYCHIC

A psychic is some who idea extra-sensory methods to gain insight into people, events and situations. Therefore, it’s not necessary for them to be in the presence of someone or physically in a situation to gain that insight.

Our ability to receive that insight can occur in the form of:

Clairvoyance – ‘clear seeing’, clairaudience – ‘clear hearing’, clairsentient – ‘clear feeling’ and claircogziance – ‘clear knowing’…..etc…..

With each of the Clair senses you are going beyond the physical, eg: what you can see with the naked eye and working with extra sensory senses or your spiritual eyes, ears extra in order to read people and situations.

Often we have to decipher the images, words and feelings that we receive and word it in a way that resonates with that person. For me, this is where the help of my guides, your guides, the angels and the rest of my spiritual team really steps in. What they often do is explain what the symbols mean so that I can relay that information.

Although each of us have a degree of psychic ability some do have it more strongly than others. Also a psychic will have put in the work and practice to develop their ability.

INTUITIVE

What we all have is intuition. They ability to get that hunch or gut feeling about someone or something.

Although very similar to psychic work, which is why confusion can arise, an intuitive will get more instant flashes of insight and these insights don’t need deciphering in the way a psychic’s insight would.

Intuition comes from within. Often described as the voice of your soul. Therefore it tends to be best utilised when offering guidance on everyday life, either your own or to guide others.

Making it a useful gift to tune into when making decisions, as it will align you with the choice that’s in agreement with your soul desires. And sometimes your lessons too.

MEDIUM

Now this is where many potential clients become confused because it’s often believed that psychics are mediums too. This isn’t always the case.

A medium is someone who can connect to those who have passed over. This can include: spirit guides, angels, saints or a loved one who has passed over.

Not all mediums will channel and connect with your loved one who has passed away, preferring to just connect with spirit they have an established relationship with. For example, I tend to work with my nan, Archangels- particularly Michael, Azrael and Jophiel, Saints (Expedite, Martha) or celebrities such as Lady Di.

When choosing a medium choose someone that you really feel a connection with. Go to mediumship nights and see if the medium establishes that connection with your loved one. Do your research.

CHANNEL

Someone who Channels will literally zone out of the ‘real world’ and ego mind to receive a flow of guidance. The guidance literally flows through them and can often do so at a pace, so keep your ears peeled when having a reading with someone who Channels so you don’t miss anything. However, channelling can also be in the form of writing which is where email readings come in useful.

SPIRITUAL ADVISOR

Some people may also use the label spiritual consultant too.

A spiritual advisor will use a range of tools and modalities to support you in growing and making positive changes in your life. For example, I may draw upon my psychic gift or healing into spiritual advisory sessions, mixed with practical guidance some times drawing on relevant personal experience. So, it will depend on who you are working with as someone else may be more of life coach who incorporates spiritual practices. Therefore, it’s important to choose the right spiritual advisor for you.

With a spiritual advisor positive changes are not likely to be made over night so you will, most likely, work with a spiritual advisor over a period of time.

Hopefully, this post will help you to select the right reading or package of readings for you. It may even be of help to those of you who are wanting to develop your own abilities too.

Either do your research and really trust your own inner guidance when selecting the right type of reader for you.
